Grand Ayatollah Javadi Amoli:

A person should become a scholar with a sense of justice and act for the truth. The main thing is that in the course of action, a person can be Imam of pious people.

In this meeting, Grand Ayatollah Javadi Amoli explained the 118th wisdom of Nahj al-Balagha [in some manuscripts, the wisdom number is 112th].

He said, “The blessed existence of Hazrat Amir (may God bless him and grant him peace) said in this wise word: «إِضَاعَةُ الْفُرْصَةِ غُصَّةٌ». The word righteous action and encouragement to righteous action repeated many times in Nahj al-Balagha, likewise in the Holy Quran, because human is an eternal being. If humans are eternal being and his life is divided into two parts; one part is related to action, the other part is related to the consequences and the result of that actions. At the time of the result, there is no room for action, so, there are many verses in the Holy Qur'an and the enlightening statements of the Ahl al-Bayt, especially the Nahj al-Balaghah, regarding the righteous action and recognizing the righteous action and speeding up to the righteous action.”

he stated, “If a human, God forbade, was a creature that would perish after death, there would be no result for his good or bad deeds. He would not suffer. He would not have a plan for after his death, but all the exploitation of his deeds will be after his death. in Nahj Al-Balaghe «العمل نبات» humans are like a farm. When he does something, he plants a seed in the ground. It will see its result on the Day of Resurrection. Therefore, if someone does not act on that day, he will be in grief, that will choke us.”

His Eminence said, “we are told that losing an opportunity would result in grief. We also advised to become scholars with a sense of justice and act for the truth. They both said that you should act if you are wise, and they also said that you will benefit as much as you act. If you don't act, you will be sad.

he said, “The Holy Qur'an does not only say that you should do good work, but it also has a plan. first is migration, then speeding up, then preemption, then Imamate. Now it is either in the village or in the city or in the Howzeh. He said: First, you must migrate from ignorance to knowledge, from oppression to justice, from laziness and ease to effort and struggle, from negligence to awareness. The first task is migration, when we entered the field, now we want to work, they said for working ﴿وَ سَارِعُوا﴾ When we saw that there are many people who are fast, they told us: ﴿فَاسْتَبِقُوا﴾. compete! there are no clashes in good deeds. The field of competition in scientific and practical virtues is heaven and earth. ﴿فَاسْتَبِقُوا الْخَيْرَاتِ﴾  which is in a field as vast as  ﴿عَرْضُهَا السَّماواتُ وَ الْأَرْض.”

He said, “When we have done these three or four things, when we migrated, accelerated, overtaken, we will reach Imamate and responsibility: ﴿وَ اجْعَلْنا﴾ Now I live in the village, or I live in the city, or I live in the Howze, or I live in the university, I should be the imam of the university, I should be the imam of the village, not the imam for Jama’at prayers. the imam for Jama’at prayers is one of his affairs. ﴿وَ اجْعَلْنا لِلْمُتَّقینَ إِماماً﴾. I must live in such a way that the good people of society will follow me, which is not a bad thing. He said, "Why do you always have to be the followers?" If you were a person of emigration, you were a person of speed, you were a person of lead, you participated in the field of science and knowledge, ask Allah to lead a group of people.”

He stated, “The main thing is that in the course of action, a person can be imam for the pious people, that is why we wish for the higher levels of heaven. In the Dua Kumeil we ask to be close to you, to be close to the Ahl al-Bayt «وَ أَقْرَبِهِمْ مَنْزِلَةً مِنْكَ وَ أَخَصِّهِمْ زُلْفَةً لَدَيْك‏» These are not the worldly position, so we become arrogance. These make a person humbler.
