A person should become a scholar with a sense of justice and act for the truth. The main thing is that in the course of action, a person can be Imam of pious people.

Grand Ayatollah Javadi Amoli discussed the 119^th wisdom of Nahj al-Balagha in this meeting.

He said, “The blessed presence of Hazrat Amir (may God bless him and grant him peace) said in this wise word«مَثَلُ الدُّنْيَا كَمَثَلِ الْحَيَّةِ، لَيِّنٌ مَسُّهَا وَ السَّمُّ النَّاقِعُ فِی جَوْفِهَا؛ يَهْوِی إِلَيْهَا الْغِرُّ الْجَاهِلُ، وَ يَحْذَرُهَا ذُو اللُّبِّ الْعَاقِلُ. » The world works this way, because it is the place for examining humans. It has been mentioned many times in Nahj al-Balagha, that the structure of creation is summarized in several stages. First everything in the world was created by Allah: ﴿اللَّهُ خالِقُ كُلِّ شَيْ‏ءٍ﴾(second) And whatever he created, he created for mankind: ﴿خَلَقَ لَكُمْ ما فِی الْأَرْضِ جَمیعا﴾. Thirdly, whatever he created it is subjected to your will. Now, if a human being was narrow-minded, he had the power of learning, but he did not seek knowledge, he had greed and idleness that stop him, for example, to make a sky cruiser, it is his own fault.

His Eminence stated that Allah has introduced the piety as the humanity’s sustenance in hereafter, “«وَ تَزَوَّدُوا فَإِنَّ خَيْرَ الزَّادِ التَّقْوى» The problem with humans today, is that they don't think “what will happen to me when I die? Would be like a tree that dries up and becomes firewood or is it like a bird that flies out of a cage?” his Holiness said, you fly, you never decay«وَ لَكِنَّكُمْ تَنْتَقِلُونَ مِنْ دَارٍ إِلَی دَار» You are a traveler. The traveler who does not rot, reaches his destination.”

He said, “There are two expressions in the Holy Qur'an about the world; one, «الله خالق کل شیء. » which means Allah is the creator of the whole world and things. Another is «الذی احسن کل شیء خلقه. » This means that everything Allah has created, He created them beautiful, and there is not a world more beautiful than this. there is not any regret in the creation system, because if the creation of sky, earth, human, stone and the like could be more beautiful than this, Allah would create it is either because of ignorance or incapability or stinginess, -he didn't know or he couldn't or he didn't have the will and generosity- all three of these cases are impossible for Allah.”

Grand Ayatollah Javadi Amoli stated in another part of his speech, “Knowledge is a good light and reason uses knowledge to find the right path. We have the right path, which is Ahl al-Bayt. Their words, deeds, thoughts, traditions, and life are our straight path, and knowledge, which is the light. the light would not be effective if it there is no straight path. What is the point of having several lights in our hands if ther is no way? Knowledge is a good light both in the Howzeh and in the university. This knowledge must recognize the strait path and move in it. What recognizes the straight path, and moves is called intellect. Therefore, Allah said that the parables that we give in the Quran are for the purpose of educating intellectuals, not scholars ﴿وَ تِلْكَ الأمْثَالُ نَضْرِبُهَا لِلنَّاسِ﴾ but ﴿وَ مَا يَعْقِلُهَا إِلاّ الْعَالِمُونَ” (these parables We put forth for Mankind in general, but only the learned Men understand their deep meanings)

He said, “Sometimes a person is ignorant, as it is also written in our traditions that you should not make your knowledge, cause of your ignorance. If you do so, step by step, you would beheaded in the battle with your ignorance. But sometimes, when a person is ignorant, he has a constant enemy in self and that enemy would take you to the wrong places. But if he becomes a scholar, he has a treasure. If one manages to preserve this treasure, he saves himself and the society, and if one fails to preserve it, he endangers himself and the society.”

His Eminence said, “Because this is very important, it is mentioned a lot in hadiths, especially in Nahj al-Balagha, where he said: Don't let your knowledge be ignorance. It means, now that you have studied and are a scholar, and you know profit and loss, you know good and evil, and you know good and bad, you know danger and profit, benefit from this knowledge. Moreover, he said that you should not only let your knowledge to be your ignorance, but also act on this knowledge of yours. This is called practical wisdom and is completely separate from the system of theoretical wisdom. It means, a person can know something 100% as right and not act on it and stand against it.”

He said, “Satan has nothing to do with the theoretical wisdom. Study whatever you want. But now how do you want to use this knowledge, this is under the reign of Satan. This devil says to invalidate the truth like this. Make fallacies like this and so on and so on and so on. If you become a scholar, act on it immediately: «إِذَا عَلِمْتُمْ فَاعْمَلُوا», don't let there be a gap, otherwise that one (Satan) will come, or your knowledge will be your ignorance; one. The second step is to make this knowledge a means to mislead people. All these seditions, all these ambivalences are all the work of the practical intellect that misplace them.”

His Eminence said, “This knowledge, which is light, it would better to use in good ways. We teach four people, let's tell four people we also act on this knowledge. With our knowledge, with our action, with our method, with our method, with our same tactic, many people will be guided. He (Amir Al-Mumenin) said, be in such a way that you are a light of guidance when you walk among the people be the light for their guidance.”
