Esra NEWS Agency: This morning (Thursday, 23rd of Shahrivar), the weekly ethics lesson of Grand Ayatollah Javadi Amoli was held at his Eminence Hosseiniyeh in Damavand.
In this meeting, Grand Ayatollah Javadi Amoli continued the discussion of 113th Wisdom of Nahj al-Balagha -.
His Eminence said, “The blessed existence of Amirul Momineen, peace be upon him, says in 113th wisdom of Nahj al-Balaghah «لَا مَالَ أَعْوَدُ مِنَ الْعَقْلِ»
«لَا مَالَ أَعْوَدُ مِنَ الْعَقْلِ»
Although intellect generates income and wealth is the consistency of a country, the country's economy measured by it, but the benefit and profit of intellect is more than wealth, because wealth can be obtained with intellect, but intellect cannot be acquired with wealth.
«وَ لَا وَحْدَةَ أَوْحَشُ مِنَ الْعُجْبِ»
Loneliness causes fear, but once a person is in the crowd, but then again, he is alone, because he believes he is better than other, this leaves him alone. Also, because he sees himself as superior, he doesn't cooperate with them, he doesn't consult with them, he doesn't get help from their thoughts, he doesn't benefit from their actions. This excuse causes loneliness and is worse than any loneliness.
«وَ لَا عَقْلَ كَالتَّدْبِيرِ وَ لَا كَرَمَ كَالتَّقْوَى»؛
Human should live honorably. The first verses Allah has revealed in the blessed Surah "Alaq" is the lesson of dignity. said﴿اقْرَأْ وَ رَبُّكَ الأكْرَمُ ٭ الَّذِي عَلَّمَ بِالْقَلَمِ﴾. The first lesson that Allah taught human societies is the lesson of dignity, and dignity is in piety. Piousness is that a person has a high spirit, neither goes to evil nor allows evil to come to him.
«وَ لَا قَرِينَ كَحُسْنِ الْخُلُقِ»؛
Just as arrogance causes loneliness, good manner causes people to gather around one with the good manners, because he is a benefactor of others; one. accepts others advicea; two. Also, if there is a division among others, he tries to turn it into a unity; three. As result such a person is always with others.
«وَ لَا مِيرَاثَ كَالْأَدَبِ»؛
In the inheritance of property, the wealth would be passed on to the next generation after the death of the original owner. In the inheritance of knowledge and merits, the knowledge and merit would be passed on to the next owner as the next owner dies! In the inheritance of virtues, the next owner would inherit the virtue by killing the arrogance and envy in oneself. If it has been said «الْعُلَمَاءَ وَرَثَةُ الْأَنْبِيَاء» (scholars are the hire of prophets) Those scholars inherit from prophets who have sacrificed selfishness. He has destroyed selfishness. What it really means is that in the inheritance of knowledge, nothing will be inherited until the heir dies, and in the inheritance of wealth, nothing will be inherited until the original owner dies.
«وَ لَا قَائِدَ كَالتَّوْفِيقِ»؛
Sometimes there is scientific leadership. Sometimes there is practical leadership. Practical leadership is the tension that encourage. sometimes when a person knows that something is good. Once he understands it but there is no tendency toward it. The tendency in such situations is the leader. The tendency that would takes human toward that knowledge is called “Tuwfiq”. The “Tuwfiq” is when the efforts are in accordance with the purpose. The efforts be in accordance with perfection, with the final destination and so on. This is called Tawfiq
«وَ لَا تِجَارَةَ كَالْعَمَلِ الصَّالِحِ»؛
What has been taught to us in the verse, ﴿هَلْ أَدُلُّكُمْ عَلَي تِجَارَةٍ تُنجِيكُم﴾that business that taught to us in this verse is the “Amal-e Salih”. The true knowledge and “Amal-e Salih” is the right business and those who are busy doing it ﴿رَبِحَتْ تِجارَتُهُمْ﴾ would make true benefit. Nonetheless, there are others who do not have that true knowledge, and even if they have it, they would not get the success to follow it by the righteous action, so they would be in the second group that ﴿فَما رَبِحَتْ تِجارَتُهُمْ﴾ (their business is not profitable).
«وَ لَا [زَرْعَ] رِبْحَ كَالثَّوَابِ»؛
One may say I benefited. Sometimes it is a financial profit which is fleeting and brings material joy, but it does not include spiritual successes and divine perfections. The benefit that brings spiritual perfections is the reward (Thawab), it means it is an effort in accordance with the destination. Efforts that are not in accordance with the destination and they are not in alignment with the ultimate goal is not a reward.
«وَ لَا وَرَعَ كَالْوُقُوفِ عِنْدَ الشُّبْهَةِ»؛
Abstinence sometimes against certain haram. This is a first level. However sometimes it is against a suspicious situation. (For example, one does not know) doing that is it Haram or not?! or that food is suspicious. Suspicious situations are the place for a person to be careful. To be cautious means to build walls around his religion (to protect it).
« وَ لَا زُهْدَ كَالزُّهْدِ فِي الْحَرَامِ»؛
Sometimes he leaves things that he does not like. But for some the criterion of like and dislike are the haram and halal. If something is forbidden, he does not desire it, this is a good asceticism, it is a perfect asceticism.
« وَ لَا عِلْمَ كَالتَّفَكُّرِ»؛
Sometimes a person is a scholar who learned from other sources. It is like someone who prepared a pool and pours water into the pool of his own. This is not real talent and it is not perfect. Someone else, put all his effort and made a water spring that boil water out of earth. This spring is boiling, untouched, in his possession. This is like thinking. If someone learns something by learning from others, that is good, but this knowledge is not like the thinking. finding unknown, discovering it and turning the unknown to known, this is like a spring.
«وَ لَا عِبَادَةَ كَأَدَاءِ الْفَرَائِضِ»؛
Sometimes a person does a lot of recommended things, but he doesn't do his duties and responsibilities carefully. There are very obligatory duties and it is forbidden to leave them but he do not fulfil them. However, he performs Mustahabat. Imam says that there is not a worship as rewarded as doing the Wajib duties. When the Wajibat is done, our duties are fulfilled, even if a person cannot perform the recommended things.
«وَ لَا إِيمَانَ كَالْحَيَاءِ وَ الصَّبْرِ»؛
If someone knows Allah, he would be ashamed to rely on other than Alla; one. he would completely be patient and tolerant when he faces Allah’s orders; these is two. Such a person is called tolerant; this means it is his duty, this is his assignment, he must deliver it to the destination and he delivers it. Such a person is a conscientious person.
«وَ لَا حَسَبَ كَالتَّوَاضُعِ»؛
Sometimes a person is proud of his family and bloodline. Sometimes not, but he has his own perfections and he is proud of his own achievement. This mutual respect and protecting oneself from pride and selfishness, the freedom from unnecessary ambition are good blessings. These are bloodline and family tree of a person. the lineage of a person.
«وَ لَا شَرَفَ كَالْعِلْمِ»؛
Just as there is no knowledge like a knowledge obtained by thinking, there is no honor like knowledge. Sometimes a person has honorable lineage; he is someone's son, he is someone's brother, he has an added honor, but this honor is not real, the real honor is in the shadow of knowledge.
«وَ لَا عِزَّ كَالْحِلْمِ»؛
A tolerant person is “Aziz” (which is translated to dignified). Dignified is impenetrable. The land that no pickaxe cannot penetrate called “Aziz”. Any person who is not affected by bribery or threats, so that he would not deny any truth or signs a falsehood, this becomes dignified. A person who surrenders so quickly with a worthless bribe, a threat, or another promise, is humiliated, lowly, surrenderable, not “Aziz” (dignified). He said that the dignity is in the shade of clemency and tolerance, that calm people cannot be easily angered. It cannot be outraged quickly.
«وَ لَا مُظَاهَرَةَ أَوْثَقُ مِنَ الْمُشَاوَرَة»؛
The word “Mozahireh” (“مظاهره”) means support. The word “Zaheer” means supporter. “Zahr” means the spine. The word “Tazahorat” (which means protesting) it means people supported each other. “Zahir” is from “Zuhr” (noon) which means the back side of the day. He said that if a person is alone, he cannot carry the heavy burden of the society, but if he has support, he has this power. If one wants to do something, it should be done with consultation and consensus, this is a demonstration. Others who give their opinion to him, they are providing support for him. He said there is no support like consultation.
