Grand Ayatollah Javadi Amoli explained the 124th wisdom of Nahj al-Balaghah in this meeting and said, “In the wisdom of 124th Nahj al-Balaghah, Amirul Momineen, peace be upon him, said: «غَيْرَةُ الْمَرْأَةِ كُفْرٌ، وَ غَيْرَةُ الرَّجُلِ إِيمَانٌ» Zeal (Gheyrat) is one of the moral virtues. If it is used in place, it becomes faith, and if it is not used in place, it will be against faith.”
By stating that the imams (peace be upon him) advised us to be zealous (Ghayoor), he stated, “Zeal is made up of several scientific matters, I mean, although it is just a word, it relies on three principles: the first principle is that a zealous person does not exceed his limits. He doesn't look outside his border. Zealous doesn't look at other’s houses, cars, and shops, which is mentioned in another statement «مَا زَنَى غَيُورٌ قَطُّ» This means that no zealous man goes beyond his limits, and if someone transgresses his limits, he is unzealous.
His Eminence said, “The second principle is that no zealous person will allow his sanctuary to be violated. if someone throws a stone towards your country or your home «رُدُّوا الحَجَرَ مِن حَيثُ جاءَ». (return the stone to where it come from)”
He stated, “Therefore, zeal is not a term that is just have reward in here after. It is not like ordinary virtues and virtues, but it is a pillar for ethic in both individual and societal aspect. Whether it is a personal house, a national house or a country, that is, just as a zealous person does not enter another country, he does not allow another country to enter his territory.”
He then stated, “The third important thing in zeal is that a person knows his border, his identity, his true nature, and until he knows his border, he cannot measure where he has crossed the border and what point he has crossed the border and where his boundaries and privacy have been violated. One must know his identity in order to know his privacy and sanctuary.”
