Isra's NEWS Agency: Seyyed Morteza Bakhtiari, head of Imam Khomeini's relief foundation and his accompanying delegation met and talked with Grand Ayatollah Javadi Amoli's this morning (Wednesday 15th of February) in his house.
Grand Ayatollah Javadi Amoli, in a meeting with the head of the Imam Khomeini (RA) relief foundation and the accompanying delegation, stated, "We appreciate your hard work and the services of the officials and we pray for those who serve honestly. our expectation is to find this intellectual power to not only help the poor but also fight poverty and this is a good Jihad!
His eminence said, "There are two types of poverty, economic poverty and natural poverty; Natural poverty cannot be prevented; being a child, getting old, getting sick, and the poverty that comes from these things is not a shame; But economic poverty is a shame, and therefore we must move in the direction which there is no poverty and no poor.
He said, "There are two types of helping the poor; one is helping the poor and the other is poverty alleviation. We have an emotional matter and a rational matter; The emotional matter of helping the poor exists in all countries of the world, and in all of them there is an institution that helps the poor, but we are the followers of Amir al-Mominin Ali (peace be upon him) who said: «لو تَمثّل لِی الفقر رجلاً لَقَتلتُهُ»; If poverty was a man, I would behead the poverty! I did not come to just help the poor; I came to prevent poverty! Our main duty is to prevent poverty.
He added, "protecting the honor and dignity of believers is an Islamic task, and therefore the basics for production and jobs must be provided for everyone so they can sit at their own tables with dignity and honor and live with self-esteem.
He continued, "In Islam, being hired is Makrooh(unrecommended), because the religion says we want you to be dignified. We don't just want people's to be fed, but we want you to live with dignity.
His eminence said, "Allah says in the first verses revealed to the beloved Prophet of Islam ﴿اقْرَأْ وَ رَبُّكَ الْأَكْرَمُ﴾ This is the first word of God: Read! and your Lord is Most Honorable. A jurist teaches jurisprudence, a doctor teaches medicine and an engineer teaches engineering, Honorable Allah teaches honor and wants people to live with dignity.
He said, "cash subsidy is a generous and kind offer, but we have already said that this money should be spent on production, jobs and work so that everyone can sit at their own table and live a dignified life.
