Isra NEWS Agency: Grand Ayatollah Javadi Amoli stated in valuable book of "Hikmat Ibadat" about the inner meaning of fasting: Fasting is for a person to attain piety. ﴿لعلّكم تتقون﴾ piety has two degrees: first the one with the heaven where there are many blessings ﴿إنّ المتقين في جنّاتٍ ونَهَرٍ﴾ this is for physical pleasures. The other one is to be at the presence of Allah﴿في مقعد صدقٍ عند مليكٍ مقتدر﴾ [3] at this stage, we are not talking about apples and pears. Because heaven and river, food and drinks belong to his body, but being with the Allah is for his soul. This is the essence of fasting.
Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said:«للصائم فرحتان، فرحة عند إفطاره وفرحةعند لقاء الله» [4] The fasting person would be happy twice; One when breaking the fast and the other when meeting the Lord. And in another place, he says: «للصائم فرحتان حين يفطر وحين يلقى ربّه عزّ وجلّ» [5]. In some supplications, the fasting person asks Allah to see the perfect beauty: :«اللّهم إنّى أسألك من جمالك بأجمله وكلّ جمالك جميل» [6] "O Allah, I ask you for your most beautiful beauty, and all your beauties are really beautiful". It is a pity that a person gives his heart to himself and to anything other than Allah and to everything that is not stable; Because everything other than Allah is subject to decay and change and cannot be the reward of human; The reward for a fasting person is to meet the Allah.
We have been told to ask for absolute beauty in the dawn of the holy month of Ramadan. What a high position it was available for the man that we were told to say: «اللّهم إنّى أسألك من نورك بأنْوره وكلّ نورك نيّر» "O Allah, I ask you for the most brighten light and all of your lights are really bright." We were taught this supplication in the blessed month of Ramadan because a person who is fasting is worthy to say such words. This mouth can say: «اللّهم إنّى أسألك من جلالك بأجلّه وكلّ جلالك جليل» "O Allah, I am asking you for your most glorified glory, and all of your glory really glorified" [7]. There is no talk of Horiya and Ghelman, apples and pears, heavens and rivers; Rather, we are talking about spiritual perfections and such high level exists for humans, if these levels were not reachable for us, they would not order us to recite them. So, it is possible to reach that position.
A very precise and delicate narration was narrated by the late Kalini from the seventh Imam (peace be upon him), which says: «إنّ أبدانكم ليس لها ثمن إلاّ الجنّة، فلا تبيعوها بغيرها» [8] Your body worth as much as Heaven; Do not sell it to anything other than heaven; otherwise, you will lose. The late Mohagheg Damad says, "This narration indicates that your soul is above heaven. You should give the soul to "Jannah al-Laqqa". Your soul should reach ﴿عند مليكٍ مقتدر﴾ and the best way to be in Allah's presence is fasting" [9]. The essence of fasting appears in the form of meeting with Allah, and for humans, there is no higher wish than meeting Allah. Because human is eternal being that never perishes, but eventually transferred from one world to another. if the reality of the fast is given to him, he is constantly in the presence of the truth.
